Alvechurch Parish Playing Fields

The Council owns and maintains two playing fields, Hopwood and Rowney Green.

Hopwood Playing Fields

At Hopwood there is a Community Centre with a hall, a kitchen, changing facilities, toilets and a car park with disabled access.

Rowney Green Fields

At Rowney Green there is a pavilion with a kitchen, changing facilities and toilets.

There is play equipment for younger children at both sites and football pitches which are currently being used by our local youth team Alvechurch Lions.

Wiggin Memorial Playing Fields

The Council are Trustees to the Wiggin Memorial Playing Fields also known locally as ‘The Meadows’.

This playing field at the end of Meadow Lane, Alvechurch was established as the Alvechurch Playing Field Trust in 1972 by the family of Walter Wiggin. The Parish Council became the sole trustees of the charity in 1983.

The field is currently being improved to allow for more sports facilities ie a football pitch after obtaining funding from Sports England, there is also play equipment for the younger children of the village, cricket stumps and a boardwalk at the edge of the River Arrow.

The Field has several wildlife habitats:
woodland areas with native flowers, some ancient trees and new young trees planted in 2012 as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, and an open wildflower meadow area.
